About Programs Master of Law Program

About Programs

The Master of Law Program received its operational license in 2013, specifically on May 21, 2013, under the auspices of the Graduate Program at Wijaya Putra University. At its inception, the Master of Law Program offered two specializations: commercial law and financial institution law. The selection of these two specializations was an initial objective in building the national legal system, as the broad scope of these two fields constitutes the primary focus of study in national economic activities.

In 2017, pursuant to the Rector’s Decree of Wijaya Putra University No. 13.1/Kep/Rek-UWP/VIII/2017 dated August 18, 2017, the name of the study program was changed from the Master’s Program in Legal Science to the Master’s Program in Law. This was done in accordance with the mandate of Article 7 of Permenristekdikti No. 15 of 2017 concerning the Naming of Study Programs in Higher Education, which is an obligation in accordance with what is stipulated by the minister based on this ministerial regulation.

The Master of Law Program first received accreditation in 2016 based on BAN-PT Decision No. 0544/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/V/2016 dated May 20, 2016, regarding the Accreditation Score and Rating of the Master of Legal Science Program at Wijaya Putra University, Surabaya, with an accredited rating of “B.” This “B” accreditation rating was subsequently reaffirmed for the Master of Law Program in the subsequent accreditation period, as per BAN-PT Decision No. 3246/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/JM/V/2021. This Decision is effective from May 21, 2021, through May 21, 2026.
