To improve the quality of education and align the curriculum with industry needs, Wijaya Putra University (UWP) successfully held a Workshop on the Development and Implementation of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum. The event, which took place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the UWP Hall on the Wiyung Campus, was attended by all faculty leaders, heads of study programs, lecturers, and quality assurance personnel.
The workshop was officially opened by UWP's Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sri Juni Woro Astuti, M.Com., who in her remarks emphasized the importance of implementing OBE in preparing competent graduates ready to compete in the global era. "This workshop is a crucial part of UWP's commitment to improving the quality of higher education by designing an OBE curriculum that not only meets national education standards but also addresses the demands of the workplace and the real needs of society. The OBE approach places learning outcomes at the center of the entire educational process," said Sri Juni.
The workshop featured national OBE curriculum experts and industry practitioners, including Dr. Ir. Syamsul Arifin, MT. (The KPT Curriculum Guidelines Development Team, the Directorate of Higher Education's Student Affairs and Student Affairs, and ITS lecturers) explained the basic principles of OBE and the steps for developing a learning outcomes-based curriculum.
Participants actively engaged in various sessions, including group discussions; developing learning outcomes for each study program at UWP; a simulation of developing a Semester Learning Plan (RPS); hands-on practice in designing an OBE-based Semester Learning Plan (RPS); and case studies.
The workshop yielded several strategic recommendations, such as: Improving the OBE-based curriculum for all study programs at UWP starting in the odd semester of 2025/2026; and providing further training for lecturers to develop learning and assessment methods aligned with OBE.
"This workshop was very beneficial for understanding how to design outcomes-oriented learning. I am ready to implement OBE in the Agribusiness Study Program," said Dwiyana Anela Kurniasari, SP., M.Si., one of the workshop participants.
Furthermore, UWP will form a UWP Curriculum Development Team to monitor the progress of compiling a complete curriculum document and conduct periodic evaluations of its implementation.
