Wijaya Putra Cares, UWP Students Bring the Meaning of Ramadan to Orphans by Sharing Happiness
The spirit of sharing during the blessed month of Ramadan continues to flow from various elements of society. This time, students at Wijaya Putra University (UWP) demonstrated their concern by holding a social service event titled "Wijaya Putra Cares." Carrying the profound theme, "Nurturing Empathy, Bringing the Meaning of Ramadan to Life," this activity took the form of providing assistance to orphans in Babat Jerawat Village, Pakal District, Surabaya.
The event, which took place on Friday, March 6, 2026, was attended by students from various study programs, accompanied by lecturers. Their presence was warmly welcomed by the beneficiaries and local residents, creating a close-knit atmosphere amidst the blessings of Ramadan.
The event's organizing committee and UWP Student President, Bayu Tri Putra, explained that this activity was not merely an annual ceremonial event, but a concrete effort to implement the noble values taught in college.
The theme "Nurturing Empathy, Bringing the Meaning of Ramadan to Life" was deliberately chosen as a reminder to all of us that during this holy month, a sense of caring and social solidarity must continue to be cultivated. "We want to share happiness with the orphans here, while also learning about the meaning of sincerity and togetherness," he said on the sidelines of the event.
The series of community service events took place in a friendly atmosphere. In addition to providing assistance in the form of basic food packages, school supplies, and cash, the students also took time to play and interact with the orphans. The children's cheerful laughter filled the event, creating precious moments that are longed for in this month of forgiveness.
One of the students, Aisyah Salsabila, expressed her deep impression of the activity. "This is a very valuable experience. Seeing the smiles of the children here makes us even more motivated to continue doing good." "Hopefully, what we've given will be beneficial and become a source of reward for all of us," he said, his eyes sparkling.
This "Wijaya Putra Peduli" social service activity is expected to become an ongoing, regular event, not only during Ramadan but also at other times. With this concrete action, UWP students demonstrate that empathy and caring are key to bringing the meaning of togetherness to life, while also inspiring more people to share with others.
