UWP Holds Strategic Working Meeting, Realizing Commitment as a Research-Based Sociopreneurship Campus
Wijaya Putra University (UWP) held a Leadership Working Meeting with a burning enthusiasm to address the challenges of the times and concretely uphold the institution's vision: "To Become a Leading University in the Development of Research-Based Sociopreneurship by 2030." The meeting, held on January 28-29, 2026, at the Dyandra Convention Center in Surabaya, carried the operational theme "Accelerating Research-Based Sociopreneurship through Strengthening Academic Governance and Innovation," which serves as a strategic roadmap toward this vision.
The meeting, attended by all leaders of Faculties, Institutions, Agencies, and Bureaus, was opened by UWP Rector, Dr. Budi Endarto, M.Hum. In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that this meeting was a key step in transforming the vision into concrete action. "Our vision is clear: to become a leading university in research-based sociopreneurship by 2030. To achieve this, we cannot simply proceed as usual. We need acceleration, and that acceleration will come from strengthening governance and academic innovation, as we discussed today. Initiatives such as developing research-track students and preparing to open the Doctoral Program in Management are concrete examples of our strategic steps," the Rector emphasized. Furthermore, the Rector also expressed his appreciation for the selection of Dr. Sri Juni Woro, M.Com., as an assessor for the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Studies, and for UWP's achievements during 2025.
This working meeting specifically examined strategies for realizing the 2030 vision, resulting in several points of agreement and concrete steps, including the launch of a research-track student program as an effort to develop a pipeline of outstanding researchers from an early age. This program offers a special pathway for talented undergraduate and graduate students with strong research interests, providing them with intensive mentoring, access to internal and external research funding, and opportunities to participate in lecturer sociopreneurship projects from the first semester. This program is expected to become an incubator for aspiring research sociopreneurs.
In addition, UWP will establish a Doctoral Program in Management to strengthen its scientific foundation and produce strategic thinkers and innovators at the doctoral level. This program will focus on Innovation Management and Sociopreneurship, with dissertation research directed at generating new theories, models, and governance solutions that support the development of research-based social enterprises. This step affirms UWP's position as a comprehensive higher education provider.
All Tridharma (Education, Research, and Community Service) activities will be aligned to support UWP's leading position. Research outputs from the Doctoral Program in Management and undergraduate and graduate students in the research pathway must have a dual impact through scientific contributions to sustainable and broad-based sociopreneurial products or services. As a research-based university, UWP will transform its research funding and administrative bureaucracy to support research pathway students and doctoral research in the Doctoral Program in Management.
Each faculty is encouraged to integrate sociopreneurship values into its curriculum. Specifically for the undergraduate program, the research pathway will be a leading learning model. Learning will be based on real-life projects with collaborative partners as part of the development of sociopreneurial character. To become "leading," UWP will actively build strategic partnerships and support research and field practice for research pathway students. A performance measurement system will be developed that reflects the 2030 vision, including the success of the research pathway student program and the quality of research.
Participants in the working meeting welcomed this strategic initiative. Vice Rector I, Dr. Sri Juni Woro, M.Com., stated, "The research pathway student program will build the foundation from the ground up, while others will refine and elevate the level of innovation at a strategic level. This is crucial to achieving our vision."
The UWP Leadership Working Meeting concluded with a joint commitment to immediately translate all agreements into annual action plans for each unit. By launching the research pathway student program and preparing the Doctoral Program in Management, UWP demonstrates its commitment to realizing its vision of "Becoming a Leading University in Research-Based Sociopreneurship Development by 2030."
