UWP Faculty of Law's Legalpreneur Program Holds Moot Court Session
To strengthen students' legal practice skills, the Faculty of Law, Wijaya Putra University (FH UWP) held a moot court on Monday, June 29, 2026, in the UWP Hall, Benowo Campus.
The moot court was the culmination of the Legal Proficiency Training Program (PLKH) for eighth-semester UWP FH students from May to June 2026.
The moot court invited several legal practitioners from East Java as judges, including Dr. Arief Syahrul Alam, M.Hum., an advocate and Chair of the East Java branch of the Indonesian Procurement Contract Law Experts Association (PERKAHPI); Tis'at Afriyandi, S.H., M.H., an advocate from the Consultation & Legal Aid Unit of the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University (UNAIR); and Dr. Andy Usmina Wijaya, MH., Dean of the Faculty of Law, UWP.
The case presented in the moot court was an adultery case. The moot court presented a typical courtroom drama, including the roles of the panel of judges, public prosecutor, legal counsel, court clerk, defendant, witnesses, and victims, all played by eighth-semester students.
The trial, presided over by Lilik Rosita Sari as Chief Judge, and Ahmad Ridwan Fauzi and Elyn Maulina as Member Judges 1 and 2, respectively, also featured a heated argument between one of the Public Prosecutor roles, Rudi Santoso, and the legal counsel for Dendi Erdi Pranata and Rifda Aulia Rachma, Puguh Saeptian Alexander, the defendants, particularly during the presentation of evidence.
Ultimately, the panel of judges sentenced Defendant 1 to 8 months in prison, while Defendant 2 was acquitted.
The Head of the UWP Law Faculty Laboratory and Lecturer in Charge of the PLKH Course, Muhamad Chaidar, SH., MH., stated that this activity is expected to support the procedural law learning that students have already taken during their studies.
"Furthermore, in a few months, the participants in this PLKH will graduate and will face legal practice in the community. Therefore, we hope this PLKH will provide them with the necessary preparation," said Chaidar, who is also an advocate in Surabaya.
Through this moot court, UWP Law Faculty demonstrates its commitment to producing graduates who not only master theory but are also ready to make a real impact in society. This step aligns with UWP's grand vision to become a leading university in the development of research-based sociopreneurship by 2030. UWP law graduates are expected to be able to integrate legal expertise with a spirit of social entrepreneurship to uphold justice that positively impacts the public.
