UWP Faculty of Law Provides Moot Court Practice Training to High School Students
In an effort to
enhance students’ understanding of law, the Faculty of Law of Universitas
Wijaya Putra (FH UWP) provided mock trial practice training for high school
students. In this activity, FH UWP collaborated with SMA Wijaya Putra to
conduct mock trial practice training over the course of one month starting in
November.
The program
culminated on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, when 15 selected representatives of
SMA Wijaya Putra students performed a mock court trial at the UWP Auditorium,
Benowo Campus, in front of teachers from SMA Wijaya Putra and lecturers from FH
UWP. The case presented by the students involved a mobile phone theft.
The trial was
conducted by Yuan Fidella Anjani, Calvin Lie, and Muhammad Nur Ismail as the
Panel of Judges; Khalisha Salsabil Hawa and Rafael Janfrits Sumampouw as the
Public Prosecutors; Andhara Vionika as the Substitute Court Clerk; Angga Audino
and Ardian Juliandra F.E. as legal counsels; Amalia Putri Wijayanti as the
victim witness and Raisa Hana Syafira as the defendant; Dinda Oryza Sativa,
Nadhirah Aristawati, and Jessica Paramesti Yan Nehru as witnesses; and Aril
Putra Aryu and Bintang Agus Wisnu Trisna as the police officer and the oath
officer, respectively.
In this
practice, SMA Wijaya Putra students carried out the trial as if it were a real
court session. The students wore judges’, prosecutors’, and advocates’ robes
provided by FH UWP. Each participant played their role as a real judge,
prosecutor, or advocate. The auditorium was even arranged to resemble an actual
courtroom, complete with a judge’s gavel and the green table.
The Vice
Principal for Curriculum Affairs of SMA Wijaya Putra expressed gratitude and
appreciation for the assistance provided by FH UWP. The mentoring was intended
to support the learning of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKN) that the
students had studied in class.
Head of the Law
Laboratory of FH UWP, Muhamad Chaidar, S.H., M.H., who served as the instructor
in the practice, explained that the students of SMA Wijaya Putra received
training for one month starting from November 13. “On a regular basis, we
invited the students to practice at the Taufiqurrahman Law Laboratory, which is
an e-court courtroom owned by FH UWP. This allowed the students to directly
experience the real atmosphere of court proceedings,” said Chaidar.
Meanwhile, the
Dean of FH UWP, Dr. Andy Usmina Wijaya, S.H., M.H., stated that the training
was aimed at supporting the understanding of PPKN learning through mock trial
practice. In addition, the practice also served to introduce students to the
world of law.
“So far, law is
often assumed to be something frightening, negative, and the like. However,
through this training, we want to present another side of law that is just,
aligned with morality, provides legal certainty, and delivers benefits,” said
Andy. Furthermore, this training is also an implementation of the vision of FH
UWP, namely Legal Sociopreneurship with the spirit of UWP Berdampak. “We
want the presence of FH UWP to provide tangible benefits to the community,
including high school students. One of the ways is through this mock trial
practice training,” he concluded.
