Wijaya Putra University held a guest lecture with the theme "Student and Artificial Intelligence Where You Stand", on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the UWP Hall, Benowo Campus.
The resource person for the guest lecture was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suyatno Ladiqi who is a Lecturer at Universiti Zainal Abidin Malaysia (UNISZA).
The event began with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between UNISZA and UWP represented by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business and Faculty of Law UWP.
In the presentation session, Dr. Suyatno explained the opportunities and problems in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in human life. He said that AI brings many benefits that help human life.
"Our lives depend a lot on technology which ultimately makes our lives easier. Such as the use of ChatGPT in the academic field to answer questions." Dr. Suyatno explained.
However, on the other hand, there are also challenges that loom. Among them, a number of human jobs will be replaced by AI. In fact, the full and unlimited use of AI can make humans lose their moral and human values.
"For example, if we talk about the originality of scientific works. Many works are not purely human thoughts. Even humans are also worried about losing their soft skills such as the ability to communicate, because they are very dependent on AI." He said.
Therefore, he said that AI should be used as a supplement or support for human life, not as a replacement or substitute in aspects of human life.
"This is so that the moral and human values that humans have continue to exist side by side with technological developments," he said.
Vice Rector 1 for Academic and Cooperation, Dr. Sri Juni Woro Astuti, M.Com., in his remarks said that it was an honor for UWP to be able to collaborate with UNISZA.
"Moreover, we have signed a cooperation agreement between UWP and UNISZA, one of which is the student exchange program." Yuni said.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector 3 for Student Affairs, Dr. Esa Wahyu Endarti, S.H., M.Si., also added that the international collaboration must be utilized optimally by the UWP academic community.
"By participating in student exchange, we can learn about culture and life outside Indonesia and at the same time can increase our insight." He said.
