The Faculty of Engineering of Wijaya Putra University and SMK Wachid Hasyim 2 Surabaya Establish Cooperation to Develop Sociopreneurs Through Education and Skills
In an effort to improve the quality of education and strengthen the relationship between higher education and vocational high schools, the Faculty of Engineering, Wijaya Putra University (FT UWP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with SMK Wachid Hasyim 2 Surabaya on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The signing took place in the Faculty of Engineering room at Wijaya Putra University's Benowo Campus and was witnessed by both parties, as well as several lecturers and teachers.
This collaboration aims to improve the competency of SMEKWAHADA teachers and students through internship programs, technical training, and curriculum development relevant to current industry needs. Furthermore, this collaboration also opens opportunities for FT UWP lecturers and students to conduct research and community service that benefit both institutions.
The Dean of FT UWP, Mr. Ong Andre W R, ST., MT., emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education and vocational high schools in developing a young generation that is not only academically competent but also able to contribute through social innovation and entrepreneurship. "Through this collaboration, we hope to instill the values of sociopreneurship in students so they can become agents of change who care about their communities and the environment," he said.
The Principal of SMEKWAHADA, Mrs. Chusnul Chuluq, S.S., welcomed this initiative. She stated that this program will provide opportunities for students to learn directly about the concept of sociopreneurship, including the development of innovative and sustainable social-based business ideas. "We believe that with the support of the Faculty of Engineering, Wijaya Putra University, students will gain valuable experience and knowledge for their future," she added.
The signing of this MoU is expected to be a strong first step in building a sociopreneurship ecosystem among students and strengthen the synergy between higher education and vocational high schools in developing an innovative and socially-driven golden generation of Indonesia.
