The Surabaya City Government has once again demonstrated its commitment to the education sector by distributing 2026 Education Assistance to students. Wijaya Putra University (UWP) is one of the universities that facilitates this program, with 27 active students from semesters 2 to 6 who have received this assistance.
The assistance provided consists of two main components, namely Single Tuition Fee (UKT) assistance of IDR 2,500,000 per semester and monthly pocket money of IDR 300,000. This program is part of the Surabaya City Government's initiative to ease the burden of education costs for underprivileged students, with a total quota targeted to reach 23,000 to 24,000 recipients by 2026.

During the briefing event, the Head of the Student & Alumni Affairs Bureau, Suprayoga, SE., M.Si., and the Head of the Public Relations & Cooperation Bureau, Surya Priyambudi, S.Pd., M.Pd., provided an in-depth understanding of the coaching process and preparation for disbursement of funds. They emphasized the importance of data verification and compliance with procedures established by the Surabaya Culture, Youth, Sports and Tourism Service (Disbudporapar). Further information regarding registration and verification can be accessed via the official pages besmart.surabaya.go.id and spmb.uwp.ac.id.

Apart from old students, the Surabaya City Government also opened registration for 2026 Education Assistance for new UWP students. Registration is open until 31 July 2026, with the announcement of the selection results planned for August 2026. Admission priority is given to students holding Surabaya KTPs who fall into the economic category Decile 1 to Decile 5, according to the direction of the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi.

The collaboration between UWP and the Surabaya City Government in this program runs synergistically, in line with the spirit of Impactful UWP and the commitment to ensure that each program provides real benefits for the community. Previously, UWP had coordinated with sub-district and sub-district authorities to ensure that outreach reached the wider community, especially in Pakal District. UWP Chancellor, Dr. Budi Endarto, M.Hum., emphasized that the campus is ready to support this program through socialization and administrative verification for prospective students and outstanding students from underprivileged families.

As a Sociopreneur Campus, UWP measures its success not only by academic achievement, but by how much positive change it can bring to society. With regular guidance and careful preparation for disbursement, it is hoped that students who receive aid can make optimal use of these funds to facilitate their studies, while growing into sociopreneurs who are ready to have a positive impact on society and the country.
