Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Enhances Collaborative Research and Community Service Cooperation Between UWP and UISI
To strengthen synergy and expand the impact of research and community service, Wijaya Putra University (UWP), in collaboration with Semen Indonesia International University (UISI), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the UWP Benowo Campus. Representatives from the Research and Community Service Institutes (LPPM) from both institutions attended the event, aiming to improve the quality and quantity of collaborative research and community service programs.
This FGD provided a strategic opportunity for both universities to discuss various collaboration opportunities, including the development of innovative joint community service projects relevant to community needs. Participants also discussed strategies to maximize collaborative outcomes through increased resources and interdisciplinary synergy.
The Head of LPPM UWP, Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi W, SE., M.Si., stated that this collaboration is crucial in addressing national and global development challenges. "Through this collaboration, we hope to produce impactful research and community service programs that can provide concrete solutions for the surrounding community," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of LPPM UISI, Luki Trihardani, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., added that collaboration between universities must continue to be encouraged to address current challenges and strengthen the role of academics in social and economic development. "By strengthening this collaboration, it is hoped that both institutions can share knowledge and experience, and improve the quality of research and community service," he added.
In addition to constructive discussions, this event also served as a forum for sharing experiences and best practices between the two institutions. Participants exchanged information about ongoing research programs and the challenges they have faced. Through this open dialogue, it is hoped that fresh ideas will emerge that can be implemented in the form of innovative and synergistic collaborative projects.
In addition to focusing on improving research quality, this activity also emphasized the importance of community service as a key pillar of higher education. Both universities agreed to integrate research findings into community service programs that directly address local needs and provide tangible benefits to the surrounding community.
This FGD also strengthened the network and strategic partnership between UWP and UISI, which is expected to open new opportunities for obtaining funding from various sources, both government and private.
