Wijaya Putra University (UWP) and Wijaya Putra School (SWP) held a ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2025, at the Wijaya Putra University field, Benowo Campus.
The ceremony was attended by thousands of participants, including all structural officials, educational staff, and students within UWP, as well as teachers and students from Wijaya Putra's junior high, senior high, and vocational high schools.
At the 80th Anniversary Ceremony, UWP Rector, Dr. Budi Endarto, S.H., M.Hum., who served as the ceremony instructor, delivered several important messages to the participants. He stated that this was an opportune moment to reflect on the nation's history as it approaches its 80th anniversary and to reflect on the direction of future development.
"One thing worthy of contemplation is the theme of this year's independence: United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia," Budi said in his address.
He stated that this represents a new spirit that must be instilled by all citizens, including the entire academic community at UWP and SWP.
"Especially in facing global paradigms such as geopolitics and geostrategy amidst turmoil, all of which require unity within a framework of diversity," he said.
He emphasized that the theme is directed towards the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Therefore, he urged the younger generation, who are key to achieving this vision, to innovate, adapt to global change, and actively participate in sustainable development and social activities that impact society.
"From 2025 to 2045, there are only 20 years left. You young people must be agents of change, mastering technology, possessing leadership that respects diversity, and actively maintaining national unity," Budi advised the students.
During the speech, the UWP Chancellor also shared the good news of the appointment of one of his lecturers as a Professor at UWP, Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, S.E., M.Si., who received a Decree (SK) from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and the Styalancana Karya Satya Award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
"I hope that in the 81st and 82nd Indonesian Independence Days, and beyond, there will be a continued increase in new professors at UWP. This is an implementation of our stated vision of UWP as a research-based sociopreneurial campus," he concluded.
