The atmosphere of Cagakagung Village, Cerme District, Gresik, now looks different.

A new, well-organized and visitor-friendly culinary center was officially opened as a result of the Student Community Service Program (PMM) or Community Service Program (KKN) at Wijaya Putra University (UWP) Surabaya.

This program, which collaborates with the Sumber Rejeki Sejahtera Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) and the village's Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Team, has successfully introduced a new face to the village economy.

The PMM activity began with a socialization and opening ceremony attended by village officials, BUMDes administrators, the PKK Team, and community leaders.

The event explained the program's objectives: to increase the capacity of green economy-based village culinary businesses while strengthening the role of BUMDes in managing village assets.

One important achievement was the implementation of innovations in the form of nine sales stalls, six sets of tables and chairs, and six sets of decorative lighting tables, all made in a workshop owned by the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes).

These facilities make the culinary area more organized, comfortable, clean, and attractive to visit.

Furthermore, the layout also took into account accessibility, customer circulation, seating comfort, parking security, and visual appeal for selfies and social media content.

In addition to providing physical facilities, culinary tenants also received various training and mentoring.

They were trained in developing business plans, calculating rental costs, managing finances using an Android application and QRIS, as well as inventory and production management using the FIFO concept.

Tenants were also empowered with geolocation-based digital marketing skills, social media account management, and promotional content creation using a simple application.

Several tenants were even facilitated in the process of obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB) and Halal Certification to enhance the credibility of their products.

The Head of Cagakagung Village, Sapaat, expressed his pride and gratitude for the success of this program.

"We are proud that the village now has a more organized, visitor-friendly culinary center that can increase residents' incomes. Village youth can also learn entrepreneurship. This program is clear evidence that collaboration between villages and universities brings significant benefits," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Implementation Team, Yanuar Fauzuddin, explained that the program's success lies not only in the provision of physical facilities, but also in increasing the capacity of tenants and BUMDes administrators.

"We are grateful that this activity went smoothly. Culinary tenants are now more confident, BUMDes is stronger, and the community has directly benefited. We hope the Cagakagung Village Green Foodcourt concept can be replicated in other villages so that the benefits are even broader," he said.

One of the culinary tenants, Sholikatin, owner of a pecel and tahu campur food business, also shared her impressions.

"Previously, I only sold food from home with an uncertain income. After participating in this program, I got a new food cart, learned how to calculate business costs, and was taught how to promote through Instagram. Thank God, my sales have increased and many new customers are coming here," she said enthusiastically.

Monitoring results indicate that this program has had a significant impact on improving the welfare of residents.

Tenant turnover increased by an average of 40 percent, partner income increased by approximately 30 percent, BUMDes assets increased by 12 percent, and tenant and PKK managerial skills improved by 60 percent.

Furthermore, with the application-based financial system and QRIS, transactions are more transparent and meet the demands of the digital era.

Thanks are extended to the Directorate of Research and Community Service, the Directorate of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, for their funding support; Wijaya Putra University, through its LPPM (Institute for Community Empowerment and Development), which facilitated the program; and the Cagakagung Village Government, BUMDes management, the PKK Team, and culinary tenants for their cooperation and active participation, ensuring the program's successful implementation.

With the presence of the Cagakagung Culinary Center, residents hope that the village's economy will grow, the village will become more empowered, and Cagakagung's identity as a center for local culinary activities based on a green economy will become more widely known.

This program is expected to be the starting point for village transformation towards economic independence and sustainable prosperity.
