45th Anniversary: UWP Strengthens Commitment to Becoming an Impactful Sociopreneur University
A solemn and grateful atmosphere enveloped the Dome of Wijaya Putra University (UWP) Benowo Campus on Friday, February 27, 2026. The UWP family and Wijaya Putra School took advantage of this special opportunity to offer prayers and express gratitude for the long journey of Wijaya Putra.
With the theme "Impactful Wijaya Putra," the 45th anniversary commemoration included a solemn Istighotsah (remembrance of God) and a joint prayer. This event served as a token of gratitude for Wijaya Putra's dedication and contribution to education in Indonesia, particularly in East Java.
The event was attended by UWP staff, teaching staff, and administrative staff from Wijaya Putra's junior high, senior high, and vocational high schools, as well as student representatives from the UWP Student Executive Board (BEM). The event served as a forum for camaraderie and collective reflection. The recitation of verses from the Quran and prayers opened the event, ushering in the main session, the Istighotsah (recitation of prayer), led solemnly by Ustadz Ja'far Shodiq, S.Kom., M.M.
The atmosphere grew even more solemn as the event drew to a close, marked by a closing prayer offered by Ustadz Sutrisno, S.S. This prayer was not only intended for the blessings of the foundation's founder's life, but also for the future progress and sustainability of the Wijaya Putra educational institution.
The event culminated with the cutting of a tumpeng (rice cone) as a symbol of gratitude. The tumpeng was cut by the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Esa Wahyu Endarti, S.H., M.Si. This moment symbolized hope for UWP's sweet journey ahead and the close bonding of the entire Wijaya Putra family. The event then continued with a communal iftar (breaking of the fast), further strengthening the warmth of togetherness among the entire academic community in attendance.
In his enthusiastic remarks, UWP Rector, Dr. Budi Endarto, M.Hum., expressed his gratitude and appreciation. He invited the entire academic community to take a moment to reflect on the achievements of the past year. Amidst the challenges of the disruptive era that has gripped the world of higher education, particularly private universities (PTS) in Indonesia, Budi Endarto emphasized that UWP remains capable of demonstrating its existence and even remaining resilient.
"We must build confidence. Numerous public assessments show that UWP has transformed for the better. Awards and positive testimonials from stakeholders are proof that we are on the right track," he emphasized.
According to Budi Endarto, one of the most significant pieces of evidence of this transformation is the implementation of UWP's vision as a Sociopreneur University with the spirit of "Growth With Society." This vision, launched several years ago, is now considered to have demonstrated tangible results and had a positive impact on the surrounding community. This aligns with this year's Anniversary theme, "Impactful Wijaya Putra," which signifies UWP's desire to continue making a meaningful impact for shared progress.
"This isn't just a slogan. The spirit of Growth With Society is our commitment to growing and developing alongside the community. A university's success is not only measured by accreditation or the number of students, but also by its contribution to solving problems and improving community welfare," he explained.
To further strengthen this impact, the UWP Chancellor outlined a strategic plan for the future, namely the development of study centers relevant to community needs.
"We currently have a Center for Gender and Social Inclusion Studies that actively studies and advocates for equality. Going forward, we plan to add two new study centers: the MSME Study Center and the Agrotechnology Study Center. The MSME Study Center will serve as a platform for the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises, from management mentoring and digital marketing to accessing capital. Meanwhile, the Agrotechnology Study Center will focus on modern agricultural innovation and food security in coastal and urban areas. We are confident that with these study centers, UWP can contribute more focused and applicable scientific knowledge, bringing broader benefits to the community," concluded Budi Endarto with great optimism.
The 45th anniversary of Wijaya Putra concluded with prayers and strong hopes that the spirit of togetherness and innovation will continue to flow, making Wijaya Putra an educational institution that not only excels academically but also becomes a pillar of pride and strength for the Indonesian people.
