Solidarity among the nation's children was once again evident. In response to the massive flooding that struck several areas in Sumatra, resulting in thousands of residents being displaced and losing their belongings, Wijaya Putra University, High School, Vocational High School, and Junior High School (UWP and SWP) moved quickly to collect and distribute aid through the Wijaya Putra Cares program.

The collected donations, totaling Rp 26,296,000, were symbolically handed over to the Surabaya Search and Rescue (SAR) team on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Wijaya Putra Benowo Campus. This handover was part of a collaboration to ensure aid reaches its intended recipients quickly and in a coordinated manner.

Surya Priyambudi, S.Pd., M.Pd., a representative from the Wijaya Putra Cares program in the UWP Public Relations & Cooperation Bureau, stated in his remarks, "We are deeply saddened by the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Sumatra. This assistance is a manifestation of our concern and social responsibility. We chose to collaborate with the Surabaya SAR because of its professionalism and logistics network, allowing aid to be distributed efficiently to areas most in need."

The aid will be immediately purchased and transported using the Surabaya SAR's special logistics vehicles. The aid will be distributed to coordination posts in affected areas, such as Padang and Belawan, for direct distribution to evacuees.

Faishal Cakradiningrat, a representative from the Surabaya SAR, gratefully accepted the aid. "We greatly appreciate the initiative and concrete support from Wijaya Putra. This assistance is crucial in alleviating the burden on victims at the site. Our team will ensure this aid arrives safely and is distributed equitably," he said.

The floods in Sumatra, triggered by heavy rainfall and other factors, have caused infrastructure damage and cut off road access. The collaboration between UWP and SWP, along with professional emergency response organizations such as the Surabaya Search and Rescue Agency (SAR Surabaya), is considered highly effective in expediting emergency response.

The Wijaya Putra Peduli program stated that this aid distribution is a first step. They are still accepting donations and assistance from the wider community to support the long-term recovery of disaster victims.

This disaster reminds us of the importance of mutual cooperation. Synergy between various parties, from education World and social institutions to professional agencies, is key in facing natural challenges like this.
