Warm Welcome for UWP Student Athlete Contingent at POMPROV East Java III 2025
Surabaya, June 19, 2025, an atmosphere of pride and burning enthusiasm enveloped the campus of Wijaya Putra University (UWP) when the UWP Student Athlete Contingent was warmly welcomed by the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Deans, Coaches, and other academics. Six UWP athletes officially represented the campus at POMPROV East Java III on May 28 - June 04, 2025 yesterday at various locations in the city of Surabaya, they are:
1. Shalasa Rafika Putri (Public Administration) - Ju Jitsu - 1st place (Fighting 52 kg)
2. Nadya Novitasari (Public Administration) - Ju Jitsu - 2nd place (Fighting 52 kg) and (Newaza 52 Kg)
3. Ratu Miranda (Economics & Business) - Pencak Silat
4. Bintang Putra Arjuna (Psychology) - Pencak Silat - 3rd place
5. M. Dafa'uddin (Law) - Pencak Silat
6. Chyntya Putri (Law) - Woodball - 3rd place Single Fairway
Each athlete has passed a strict selection and undergone intensive training with professional UWP coaches. In his remarks, the Chancellor of UWP, Dr. Budi Endarto, M.Hum., stated “We are very proud of the spirit and dedication of these six students. Their participation in POMPROV Jatim III is proof of UWP’s commitment in supporting student talents, they have given color to achievements in non-academic fields, thank you for trying hard to make UWP proud.”
The impressions of the representative who won 1st place in the Ju Jitsu sport, Shalasa Rafika Putri, said “I feel very proud and grateful to be able to win 1st place for UWP in the POMPROV Jatim III event. Long preparation, intensive training, and support from the campus and friends kept me motivated until the end. My message, for other student friends: never be afraid to try and continue to pursue your potential. This victory is not only mine, but for the entire UWP academic community, thank you for your support!”
Hopefully the UWP athlete contingent can be more solid, disciplined, and adaptive. With the target not only to win medals, but also to build shared pride and inspire the next generation to continue to develop talents and sportsmanship. This championship is the initial stepping stone towards brilliant achievements at the national and even international levels.
