UWP Lecturer Proposes Civil Society for MSMEs in Babat Jerawat Village, Surabaya City

University (UWP) lecturers again show their concern for the community. This
time, their focus is on developing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
in Babat Jerawat Village, Surabaya. Through training programs, mentoring and
providing production machine equipment, UWP lecturers hope to improve the
quality of MSME products, especially in the field of processed cakes and expand
their marketing network.
This time,
through the Community Service (PKM) achievement grant selection program for the
2024 Fiscal Year Community-Based Empowerment scheme of the Ministry of
Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, UWP
lecturers want to realize the economic independence of civil society in
managing and developing trade.
"We
provide training, assistance and production equipment for MSMEs engaged in cake
processing," said the Head of the PKM Program, Dwi Elok Indriastuti, SH.,
M.Hum..
For this
Community-Based Empowerment program, said Dwi Elok, he worked on this program
with two other UWP Surabaya lecturers, namely Surya Priyambudi, S.Pd., M.Pd.
and Dr. Trisa Indrawati, MM. This program is in the form of PKM Economic
Independence for Joint Business Groups Based on Digital Economy in Babat
Jerawat Village, Pakal District, Surabaya City.
Madani villages
are an implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which operate
in four main pillars, namely social; economy; environment; governance; and law.
So, starting from June 2024 until now, the UWP Lecturer team is conducting training
and mentoring partners' knowledge about food safety, sanitation and personal
hygiene; assistance in processing NIB (Business Identification Number), halal
and trademark certificates; provision of mixer, grinder and gas oven equipment;
training and assistance in innovation in making processed cake products;
regular financial recording training and assistance; training and assistance in
carrying out promotions via social media; sales training and assistance via
eCommerce; training and assistance in taking product photos via cellphone; and
training and assistance in making product videos via cellphone.
The Secretary of
the Babat Jerawat Village, Sri Wahyuni, SE, expressed his gratitude for paying
attention to MSMEs, especially in the Babat Jerawat Village, Pakal District,
Surabaya. Hopefully, with this Community Service activity, the residents will
have economic independence to create a civil village by helping each other's
local residents.
Almost overall,
the Community Partnership Empowerment program activities carried out by the UWP
Lecturer team have had a positive impact. It is hoped that this community
service activity will be able to encourage MSMEs to innovate in developing the
business world because they have additional digital-based competencies which
are very influential in the current era. .
If they are
successful in this business, they will not only be able to build their own
business but will also be able to recruit new workers to open up job
opportunities for the local community. Said Dwi Elok.
