UWP Law Students Graduate Without Theses
The Faculty of Law of Wijaya Putra University (FH UWP) for the 2025/2026 Academic Year held its Graduation Ceremony at the UWP Dome on the Benowo Campus on Friday, August 29, 2025.
There was something different about this year's graduation ceremony. Nearly 100% of the students admitted to the ceremony graduated without writing a thesis.
"Generally, graduation requires a thesis. But at the UWP Faculty of Law, students can graduate without a thesis," stated the Dean of the UWP Faculty of Law, Dr. Andy Usmina Wijaya, S.H., M.H., in his remarks at the graduation ceremony.
Andy stated that the policy at the Faculty of Law (FH) UWP allows students to graduate by publishing in an accredited national journal, with a minimum SINTA score of 4. This demonstrates the Faculty's commitment to implementing the flexibility outlined in Ministerial Regulation No. 53 of 2023 and the Legalpreneur vision proclaimed by the Faculty.
"Dozens of journal articles by this class of students have been published in various accredited national journals in Indonesia, eliminating the need to write a thesis to graduate from the Faculty of Law," he emphasized.
Interestingly, one of the graduation participants successfully published an article in a SCOPUS-indexed international journal. The student, Kusnatun Kasanah, published in the SCOPUS-indexed Bonum Commune Business Law Journal.
In her message, Dr. Budi Endarto, S.H., M.Hum., representing the senior lecturers, expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the dozens of UWP Faculty of Law (FH) graduation participants in 2025.
"Their academic track record during their time as students will be forever recorded through the publication of their articles in accredited journals," Budi said.
He stated that these achievements are a testament to the quality of UWP Faculty of Law graduates, who are able to adapt to the current dynamics of higher education, which prioritizes publication.
"With the numerous publications by students and lecturers, supported by the many prospective professors at UWP Faculty of Law, it is not impossible that by 2030, or even sooner in 2027, UWP Faculty of Law will achieve superior accreditation," he concluded.
