UWP Law Faculty Graduates Students Without Thesis, Selects Scientific Publications in National Journals
The Faculty of
Law, Wijaya Putra University (FH UWP) has made history again by holding the
Judicial Session for the September 2024 period on Tuesday, September 10 2024,
at the Benowo Campus. There is something different and encouraging about this
judiciary, the students succeeded in achieving degrees without having to go
through the thesis process which is usually long and tiring.
This innovative
step is in the spotlight, considering that generally undergraduate students at
various universities have to complete a thesis which takes between 6 months to
years. However, at FH UWP, since 2023 a new policy has been implemented which
allows students to graduate with the publication of scientific articles in
Nationally Accredited Journals.
The result? The
students succeeded in publishing their scientific works in various prestigious
journals spread throughout Indonesia. This publication is officially recognized
as a substitute for a thesis, giving students the opportunity to share ideas more
widely in the academic community.
Dean of FH UWP,
Dr. Andy Usmina Wijaya, S.H., M.H., in his speech at this graduation event
expressed his sense of pride and appreciation for the extraordinary
achievements of the students.
"This is a
mandate from the Chancellor of UWP, Dr. Budi Endarto, that we encourage
students to be more active in writing and publishing their scientific work in
the Nationally Accredited Journal or SINTA," he said.
This policy,
continued Andy, is in line with the vision of FH UWP as a School of Litigators,
which continues to develop towards research-based legal education.
Not to forget,
Dr. Arief Syahrul Alam, S.H., M.Hum., senior lecturer at FH UWP, also advised
the graduates to never stop learning and contributing to society.
"The choice
of the future is in your hands. However, whatever profession you pursue in the
future, always prioritize ethics and morality," he said.
With various
innovations and cutting-edge policies like this, FH UWP continues to prove
itself as a progressive legal education institution, while forming its
graduates into individuals who are not only intelligent, but also useful for
society.
