UWP Inaugurates Professors, Ready to Promote Sociopreneurial MSMEs and Global Competitiveness
Wijaya Putra University proudly inaugurated Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, SE., Msi., as Professor of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Management on October 18, 2025, at the Dyandra Convention Center in Surabaya. This inauguration marks a historic moment for the institution of higher education and recognizes the dedication and expertise of Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, SE., Msi., in the field of MSME development and his highest functional position as a lecturer.
The inauguration ceremony, which also included the 2025 Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony, was attended by the Rector, Vice Rectors, Deans, Lecturers, Graduates, and representatives from universities, businesses, and government partners.
In his remarks, the Rector of Wijaya Putra University, Dr. Budi Endarto, SH., M.Hum., stated that this inauguration represents a strategic step in strengthening UWP's position as a center for innovation and development of micro and small entrepreneurship, and in strengthening UWP's presence as a university focused on the quality of its education.
"Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, SE., Msi., has demonstrated significant competence and contributions in the field of MSME management, through research, curriculum development, and community service. This inauguration marks an important milestone in encouraging the development of scientific knowledge and best practices in this field. Furthermore, the conferment of this Professorship is expected to further motivate other lecturers to follow suit," he said.
Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, SE., Msi., expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him. He hopes this inauguration will further enhance collaboration between academics, business actors, and the government in empowering MSMEs in Indonesia.
Furthermore, on the occasion, "Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, SE., Msi., also outlined several of his plans, such as developing technology-based entrepreneurship training programs, innovative research related to MSME marketing strategies, and increasing the capacity of micro and small business owners.
"Sociopreneurs are not simply entrepreneurs pursuing profit, but individuals who combine a business orientation with a social mission and environmental awareness. UUWP's vision as a research-based sociopreneurship campus is highly relevant to the needs of the times," he emphasized.
This inauguration also reaffirms UWP's commitment to supporting sociopreneurs by strengthening the MSME sector, the backbone of the Indonesian economy.
