UWP Commemorates Kartini Day 2025, Promotes Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Through Kartini Day
Wijaya Putra
University (UWP) commemorates Kartini Day 2025 by holding Kartini Day with the
theme "Great Women, Strong Indonesia". This event is not just an
annual ceremony, but an important momentum to reaffirm R.A. Kartini's struggle
in fighting for gender equality and access to education for Indonesian women.
The
commemoration held at the UWP Dome began with the handover of the position of
Chair of the Center for Gender Studies and Social Inclusion (PS GESI) from Dr.
Sri Juni Woro Astuti, M.Com (2020-2025 period) to Dr. Dwi Lesno Panglipusari,
SE., MM. (2025-2030 period). PS GESI itself is an institution that was
established in 2020 on the initiative of the Vice Chancellor I for Academic and
Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Sri Juni Woro Astuti.
According to
Juni, gender studies and social inclusion are an important part of a fair and
equitable development strategy. “Without this approach, development risks
creating or exacerbating existing inequalities,” he explained.
UWP is also
active in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs), especially Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequality).
In line with
that, the Head of LPPM UWP, Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, SE., MM., emphasized the
importance of a gender approach and social inclusion in every aspect of
development.
"This
study ensures that no one is left behind. This is in line with UWP's Vision to
become a Leading University in the Development of Research-Based
Sociopreneurship by 2030," he said in his speech.
The 2025 UWP
Kartini Day event was lively and full of meaning. In addition to the official
ceremony, various creative competitions were also held, involving the entire
academic community—from lecturers, staff, to students. This celebration is a
real form of UWP's support for the role of women as the driving force of the
nation's progress.
With a strong
theme and inspiring activities, UWP hopes that the spirit of Kartini will
continue to live in every step of the young generation, especially women, to
continue to dream, learn, and lead for a more inclusive and equal future for
Indonesia.
