To realize a sociopreneurial campus, the UWP Faculty of Engineering collaborates with Pelemwatu Village, Gresik.
Wijaya Putra University (UWP) has once again demonstrated its Sociopreneurial Campus spirit through concrete action. UWP's Faculty of Engineering (FT) officially established a strategic partnership with Pelemwatu Village, Menganti District, Gresik Regency, through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Pelemwatu Village Office. This collaboration encompasses Education, Research, Community Service, and the Impact Campus Program, demonstrating the university's concrete commitment to supporting village development.
The signing of the PKS was conducted by the Dean of FT UWP and the Head of Pelemwatu Village, witnessed by lecturers, students, and local village officials. This historic moment marks the beginning of synergy between academia and the community in delivering real solutions based on science and technology.
Through this collaboration, the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UWP is committed to optimizing the potential of resources and local wisdom in Pelemwatu Village through integrated programs, ranging from applied research activities to manage waste, providing outreach to the community and MSMEs, to directly involving students in the Community Service Program (KKN). These programs are designed to provide concrete benefits for improving the quality of life and independence of the village community.
The Dean of the FT UWP, Ong Andre Wahyu Riyanto, ST., MT., stated that this collaboration embodies the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and demonstrates the campus's social responsibility to the surrounding environment. "We hope this collaboration can bridge the gap between the knowledge we develop on campus and the real needs of the community," he said.
Echoing this sentiment, the Head of Pelemwatu Village, Mr. Sukayin, welcomed the collaboration and hoped that UWP's presence would accelerate village development, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, appropriate technology, and community empowerment. "We are very open and ready to collaborate to make Pelemwatu Village a developed and independent village," he said.
UWP Public Relations & Cooperation Bureau, Surya Priyambudi, S.Pd., M.Pd., emphasized that the PKS with Pelemwatu Village is part of a major expansion of UWP's ever-growing partnership network. For UWP, every collaboration is not just a document, but a promise to be present, collaborate, and create measurable and sustainable social impact. This spirit is the soul of UWP's identity as a Sociopreneur Campus, a campus that measures its success not only by academic achievement, but by how much positive change it is able to bring to the social community.
