Wijaya Putra University (UWP) Surabaya lecturers are increasingly strengthening their role in society. Recently, the UWP Lecturer Team carried out a Community Service Program (PKM) in Beton Village, Menganti District, Gresik Regency, with an ambitious mission, namely helping the village achieve its maximum potential through developing educational tourism.

This program has a real impact on local communities, especially in the management of the education-based tourism sector. Beton Village has a big vision to become one of the leading educational tourism destinations in Gresik.

By collaborating with UWP, they began building an educational fishing pond combined with a hydroponic garden, creating a unique tourist attraction. This program not only offers recreation, but also education about modern, sustainable agriculture to visitors.

To realize this vision, the UWP PKM Team consisting of Dr. Sri Juni Woro Astuti, M.Com., Dr. Heri Susanto, and Dr. Supriyanto, provided basic tourism management training to members of the Beton Village Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis).

This training includes institutional strengthening, increasing management capabilities, and preparing business plans.

"We want to help the Beton Village Pokdarwis to be better prepared and professional in managing the tourism potential of this village," said Dr. Sri Juni Woro Astuti, Chair of the UWP Surabaya PKM Team.
