The 2024 UWP Thematic KKN was closed, the students' concrete activities also had a positive impact on society

    After lasting for two months, the 2024 Wijaya Putra University (UWP) Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) with the theme "Increasing Community Empowerment through Sociopreneurship Development" officially closed (Sunday, 18 August 2024). The KKN, which was held in three main areas—Surabaya, Gresik, and Pasuruan, involved hundreds of students from various study programs who have contributed and had an impact on empowering local communities.

    In closing this KKN activity, the Chancellor of UWP, Mr. Dr. Budi Endarto expressed his appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the students during the implementation of KKN-T. "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all students who have participated in this year's KKN. Over the past two months, you have demonstrated your ability to adapt and make a real contribution to society. Through the sociopreneurship approach, you not only help society, but also encouraging them to become more independent and competitive," he said.

    He also emphasized that this KKN program is not just an academic assignment, but is also part of students' social responsibility as agents of change in society. "You have brought change, even though it may be small, but it is very meaningful for society. This is a real manifestation of Wijaya Putra University's mission to produce graduates who not only excel in academics, but also care about their social environment," he added.

    Chairman of the UWP Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Mr. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, also said, "During the past two months, we have seen how our students are able to explore the potential that exists in society and develop it into sustainable social enterprises. This program not only provides benefits to society, but also enriches students' experience in in terms of social entrepreneurship. I hope these initiatives can continue and have a long-term impact."

    During the two months of KKN implementation, students were involved in various projects aimed at increasing community independence and welfare. In Surabaya, they focus on developing education and a sustainable environment. In Gresik, students work together with local communities to develop micro and small businesses and develop village tourism, while in Pasuruan, they concentrate on managing natural resources with a sustainable approach.

    The closing of the 2024 KKN ended with a presentation of the results and achievements of each student group, which were welcomed by the community and local government. It is hoped that many of the results of their work can continue to be developed by the local community as a form of program sustainability.

    With the end of the 2024 KKN, Wijaya Putra University hopes that the experience students have gained during these two months will become an important provision in their future careers and lives, as well as making a sustainable positive contribution to the communities in Surabaya, Gresik and Pasuruan.
