Sharpening Students' Skills, UWP Law Faculty Forms Legal Study Forum
In order to improve students' ability to study legal issues in society, the Faculty of Law, Wijaya Putra University (FH UWP) formed the FH UWP Student Legal Study Forum.
The formation was marked by a Legal Study with the theme "Elimination of the Presidential Threshold: Who Benefits?" on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Building E2, UWP Benowo Campus.
The resource person for the legal study was a Lecturer in Constitutional Law, FH UWP, Fikri Hadi, S.H., M.H., and moderated by the Chairperson of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of FH UWP, Dendy Erdi Pranata. The activity was attended by all students of the Faculty of Law, UWP.
In his presentation, Fikri Hadi explained a number of opportunities and challenges in eliminating the Presidential Threshold. One of them is the emergence of new names that can be proposed by each political party participating in the upcoming election.
"This is a great opportunity for small parties to bring up candidates from their own cadres, so that they do not have to depend on and give in to large coalitions like in previous elections," said Fikri Hadi.
However, he also emphasized the need for political party restructuring in Indonesia. One of them is through the cadre formation process carried out through internal political parties. The goal is to bring up quality candidates who understand the philosophy of each political party so that the essence of eliminating the Presidential Threshold is achieved.
The Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Imam Alamuddin, said that the Legal Study Forum was an initiative of UWP FH students to improve understanding in the legal field, especially the legal dynamics that occur in society.
"In the future, this Legal Study Forum will be filled with discussions related to current legal issues in society that invite practitioners, activists and legal academics," said Imam, who is also the Chairperson of the Reasoning Division of BEM FH UWP.
The Dean of FH UWP, Dr. Andy Usmina Wijaya, S.H., M.H., expressed his appreciation for the formation of the Legal Study Forum. Moreover, the activity was purely an initiative of students.
"The establishment of the Legal Study Forum is in line with the concept of FH UWP as a School of Litigators and the vision of FH UWP, namely research-based Legalpreneur," he said.
