Promoting Sociopreneurship, Wijaya Putra University Sends Off 333 Students for the 2026 Community Service Program to 3 Strategic Areas
On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Wijaya Putra University (UWP) held an online farewell ceremony for the 2026 Community Service Program (KKN) participants. The theme of the event was "Strengthening Student Capabilities through Sociopreneurship for Solutions to Community Problems."
The farewell ceremony was also attended by UWP Rector, Dr. Budi Endarto, M.Hum., and the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo, M.Si.
A total of 333 students, divided into 13 groups, will undertake KKN in three regions: Surabaya, Gresik, and Pasuruan. This year's KKN program consists of three main schemes: the Ministry of Education and Culture's Grant Program (Kemdiktisaintek) under the PMM scheme, the Regular Thematic KKN based on Field Projects, and the Pancasila Village Mentoring program, in accordance with the Surabaya City Government program.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Nugroho Mardi Wibowo emphasized that students hold a strategic position in directly assisting the community. He hoped that participants would be able to adapt to conditions on the ground, understand the needs of residents, and make real contributions through relevant and beneficial work programs.
He also reminded that during their Community Service Program (KKN), students represent not only themselves but also the good name of UWP. Therefore, they must maintain their best possible attitude, ethics, communication, and responsibility.
Meanwhile, UWP Rector, Dr. Budi Endarto, in his remarks, expressed his hope that KKN would not stop at being a mere field service program. He stated that the output of KKN should be directed towards academic results and broader community service work, for example, by participating in presentation activities at the 2026 PKM-CSR Awards.
The Head of the 2026 KKN Organizing Committee, Drs. Dwi Wahyu Prasetyono, M.Si., along with the committee and 18 Field Supervisor Lecturers (DPL) were also present to accompany the send-off. The presence of the DPLs demonstrates UWP's commitment to providing optimal guidance, coaching, and mentoring for each KKN group during their field project-based community empowerment program.
Through this theme, students are expected to generate creative, innovative, and solution-oriented ideas in response to various community issues. This sociopreneurship approach emphasizes empowerment, social innovation, and program sustainability, ensuring that KKN is not merely an academic activity but also provides tangible impact and broad benefits to the community.
This farewell ceremony marks the first step for UWP students to engage directly with the community. With institutional support, DPL mentoring, and group assignments in Surabaya, Gresik, and Pasuruan, the 2026 KKN is expected to strengthen student competencies while making a positive contribution to the community and local government.
