IMPROVE PUBLICATION QUALITY, UWP DEGREE SHARING IS CARING ELSEVIER JOURNAL PUBLICATION
Wijaya Putra
University (UWP) held an activity entitled "Sharing is Caring: Sharing
Session - Targeting Elsevier Journal Publication" on Tuesday, April 15,
2025 in the FISIP Meeting Room - UWP Benowo Campus.
The resource
person for the activity was Dr. Budi Endarto, S.H., M.Hum., who is a researcher
and Rector of UWP and was guided by a moderator, namely Dwiyana Anela
Kurniasari, S.P., M.Sc., who is a Lecturer at the UWP Faculty of Agriculture.
The event was attended by lecturers, researchers, practitioners and structural
officials within UWP.
In the
presentation session, Budi Endarto conveyed a number of tips and tricks related
to the writing process, journal selection, and manuscript preparation that
meets international standards. This is based on his experience writing a number
of articles in the Q1 and Q2 Scopus Journals in 2024.
Important
points conveyed by Budi include the importance of paying attention to the scope
of the journal in question, paying attention to the template as determined by
the journal manager, sending a clear cover letter that is easy for the journal
editor and reviewer to understand, and paying attention to proofreading that
concerns good and correct formal English language rules.
"Many
lecturers or researchers are already afraid when planning to submit articles to
International Journals, even though if they pay attention to these points, it
is very likely that the article will be accepted by the journal," said
Budi.
Interestingly,
Budi explained that several international journals do not ask for publication
fees. The paradigm of writing in international journals requires publication
fees of up to tens of millions contradicts his experience when writing an
international journal in 2024.
"My
experience writing in an International Journal, we can ask for close access, so
that there is no publication fee at all. Moreover, if we get a research grant
from the state, it can be used to help if there are costs arising from writing
in the international journal," he said.
He emphasized
to all participants in the sharing session not to hesitate and even dare to try
submitting articles to International Journals.
The organizer
of the Sharing is Caring activity, Surya Priyambudi, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that
this event aims to equip academics and researchers at UWP with knowledge and
strategies in increasing opportunities for publication in international
journals, especially those published by Elsevier.
"We all
have high hopes to work together to increase the publication capacity of UWP
Lecturers on the international stage," said Surya who is also the Head of
the UWP Public Relations and Cooperation Bureau.
He said that
the Sharing is Caring activity will be endeavored to be sustainable. This is to
support UWP's vision of Becoming a Leading University in the Development of
Research-Based Sociopreneurship in 2030.
