Impactful Campus! UWP Wants to Become a True Sociopreneur University? How?
Awareness of
the importance of women’s roles in the world of sociopreneurship continues to
grow. This is what encouraged the Center for Gender and Inclusion Studies at
Universitas Wijaya Putra (PS Gesi UWP) to hold the National Seminar on
Gender-Inclusive Innovation in Sociopreneurship at the UWP Dome, Benowo, on
Wednesday (November 26, 2025).
The event
served as a gathering space for hundreds of researchers, academics, and
sociopreneurship practitioners from various regions. They came with one shared
mission: to explore ways for social innovation to generate broader benefits,
especially for women, children, and vulnerable groups.
Four influential speakers were
featured in this seminar:
- Dr. Sri Juni Woro Astuti, M.Com., Founder of PS Gesi
UWP
- Dr. Detji Kory Elianor Rooseveld Nuban, S.H., M.Hum.,
Coordinator of the Center for Human Rights, Gender, Child, and Demographic
Studies at Universitas Nusa Cendana
- Dr. AP. Tri Yuniningsih, M.Si., Head of the
Department of Public Administration, FISIP Universitas Diponegoro
- Happy Kurnia Putri, S.Hum., sociopreneurship
practitioner
The seminar
was also supported by three major universities as co-hosts: Universitas Wijaya
Kusuma Surabaya, Universitas Diponegoro, and Universitas Nusa Cendana.
The Chair of
the Committee, Dr. Yulis Setyowati, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that participant
enthusiasm this year exceeded expectations. A total of 70 research articles
were collected and presented in seven parallel sessions.
“Through these
parallel presentations, each researcher can exchange feedback and enrich their
study outcomes. Forums like this are essential for developing an inclusive
research ecosystem,” Yulis said.
In his opening
remarks, the Rector of UWP, Dr. Budi Endarto, S.H., M.Hum., emphasized that the
seminar aligns with the university’s new paradigm: Impactful Campus.
With the
spirit of Impactful UWP, the university is encouraged not only to
produce research but also to ensure that its findings bring real benefits to
society and industry.
“This event
demonstrates UWP’s strong commitment to fostering socially impactful
innovation. Researchers are not only building theories, but also creating
solutions,” he asserted.
Budi also
highlighted the importance of the gender theme in this seminar. According to
him, the issue is part of the global agenda of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal No. 5 on Gender Equality.
“Empowering
women means strengthening the foundation of development. This seminar shows
UWP’s concrete steps as a Sociopreneur University in contributing to global
goals,” he added.
