The implementation of the program to prevent intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism that has been carried out consistently for the past 3 (three) years for students of Wijaya Putra University has received appreciation from the Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terrorism Task Force of East Java.
The appreciation was symbolically given by giving souvenirs by a representative from Densus 88, Dr. Dani Teguh Wibowo, SH., MH. to the Chancellor of UWP Dr. Budi Endarto, SH., M.Hum., on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Surabaya.
Dani said that not many universities have given Densus 88 the opportunity to provide guidance on the dangers of intolerance, radicalism, extremism, and terrorism (IRET) to students.
"UWP should be an example for other universities. Through the program at UWP, guidance on the dangers of intolerance, radicalism, extremism, and terrorism is expected to reduce or even eliminate these movements or ideologies among students." Dani said.
He said that he was often invited by UWP to provide IRET prevention coaching at PKKMB (Introduction to Campus Life for New Students) and several podcast activities carried out by UWP and the Faculties and BEM. Therefore, this appreciation was given for UWP's consistency in the program.
UWP Chancellor, Dr. Budi Endarto, S.H., M.Hum., who was present in person at the souvenir handover said that coaching related to IRET understanding was very much needed for UWP students in addition to academic education designed by UWP.
"Moreover, we as a Sociopreneur campus with the motto Growth with Society or growing and developing together with society, so that UWP students and graduates must be sensitive to issues that threaten the sustainability of community life. One of them is the issue of intolerance, radicalism, extremism, and terrorism." Budi said.
He is also committed to the sustainability of coaching efforts for the entire UWP academic community and providing a wide space for similar activities to provide an understanding of the dangers of IRET in Indonesia.
