Celebrating the 44th Anniversary of Wijaya Putra, UWP Law Faculty Holds High School Legal Essay Competition Throughout East Java

The Faculty of Law of Wijaya Putra University (FH UWP) together with the Student Executive Board of FH UWP held a Legal Essay Competition participated by SMA/MA throughout East Java. The peak was the Final held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at UWP Benowo Campus.
In the Legal Essay Competition, FH UWP raised the theme "Active Participation of the Young Generation in National Resilience". Dozens of participants took part in the preliminary round held since last January, which ultimately selected 5 finalist teams to appear in the final round on February 15. The five selected finalist teams came from SMA Trimurti, SMAN 12 Surabaya, SMAK St. Louis 2, and SMAN 1 Cerme and SMAN 1 Kedamean, Gresik.
The final round was fierce. Each team presented their articles in front of 3 (three) judges who were experts from various fields, namely I Komang Aries Darmawan, S.H., M.H., who is a senior journalist and advocate. Other judges were Dr. Andy Usmina Wijaya, S.H., M.H., who is a legal expert and expert from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Dr. Dani Teguh Wibowo, S.H., M.H., from Densus 88 AT Polri.
The result was that the first place was won by a team from SMAN 12 Surabaya represented by Aulia Izza Nailur Rohim and Arini Djihan Pangestu, who presented a presentation entitled "Overcoming Child Delinquency: The Role of the Young Generation in the Idea of ​​Revising the Law to Achieve Justice for Victims and Protection for Perpetrators".
The second place was won by a team from SMAN 1 Cerme represented by Mirza Aristian Rahman and Putri Jingga Ayu Lestari who presented a presentation entitled "Investment, Innovation Inspiration: Strategic Design of the Young Generation Towards Indonesian Economic Resilience".
Finally, the 3rd place winner was a team from SMA Trimurti represented by Ni Made Berliana Karunia Artha and Nikita Az-Zahra Vellia who presented a presentation entitled “Bersinar: Synergy of Education and Social Activities to Combat Corruption Among the Young Generation”.
The representative of the Jury, I Komang Aries Darmawan, said that the presentations given by the finalists were extraordinary and even beyond the expectations of the jury.
“We even had difficulty determining the ranking of the winners. But the point is, you are all champions.” Komang said to the finalists.
The Head of the Committee, Fikri Hadi, S.H., M.H., said that the competition was held as part of the 44th Wijaya Putra Dies Natalis.
“We hope that this activity can foster an interest in writing among high school students,” said Hadi.
He added that it is also expected to increase students’ sensitivity to issues in society, especially those related to national resilience issues.
"This is in line with the vision of FH UWP, namely Legalpreneur based on research and UWP's vision to become a leading university in developing research-based sociopreneurship in 2030," he said.
